KOYORI paper feathers

At Tanabata no Hi, people write their wishes on a piece of paper and tie it to a fresh green bamboo twig with a Koyori paper string.

Our Koyori are all handmade in Kyoto. We do call them "paper feathers", as to their long legs of 30cm and their feather like endings. Japanese craft paper is adding a specific taste to designs and Koyori with their stems and feather flags do offer great possibilities to add the papery taste in a very light way. All ways are open to color or dye the Koyori, to paint on it, to write on it, again a very creative material!

We offer 2 types of Koyori:

Eggshell Koyori

Made out of 100% thin Japanese paper with a natural uneven mat surface, these Koyori are quite sturdy and can be bend slightly into a soft curve. Eggshell Koyori are of eggshell-white color, giving them a natural taste.

Length is 30 cm total, the flag is 2 cm wide.

Wire Koyori

Wire Koyori are a world novelity and a Greengabes original.

Made out of 100% thin Japanese paper with a white shiny surface, their stems have a wire core, which makes them bendable into any shape or curve. The wire also allows them to keep their form if used in water.

Length is 40cm, their flag is 1,5cm wide.

Koyori are sold as single stems or in bunches.
